Isaac Mizrahi is coming to Charlotte

The colorful designer with the magic touch -- Isaac Mizrahi -- is coming to Charlotte.
Mizrahi, star of the fashion doc "Unzipped," single-handily created a new genre of high fashion (for low-prices) when he launched his now defunct low-price line at Target. He's now being credited with reinvigorating the Liz Claiborne brand, of which he became creative director in 2008.

He'll be part of a Liz Claiborne New York fashion show at Belk SouthPark at 1 p.m. April 18.

Admission is free, but reservations are required by calling 877-235-5073. Seating is limited.

  1. Why is this the top story on the local news page? Not real news.

  2. It is a top story when an international celebrity makes an appearance here in Charlotte. Mizrahi transformed the retail landscape with his collections for Target and paved the way for other top name designers to create downmarket lines that everyone can afford.

Not all newsworthy stories are doom and gloom and politics.

  3. Maybe he needs to see a hair stylist before his picture is used for marketing purposes

  4. Not only a haircut, but someone to dress him, pink all over is not cool. Think Halston, Ralph Lauren, classic, elegant. And, how will this help people to get jobs, excite our economy (except for the few elite that have black AmEX cards.

  5. "Meow"! You CLT gals are a tough crowd. Being from New York, I'd prefer Marc Jacobs...he's just devine! But Issac can bring a little fun to a doll drum fashion season....Think Pink! I miss the days of Ivey's and Montaldo's. Ivey's "Celebration" was the bomb...they once had Michel Volbright as the guest designer who ended the show with a Satanic Wedding scene.... You had to be there...just beyond sublime!

  6. Maybe people are angry, because Charlotte is an overrated, botex laden city where style and beauty pale in comparison to real cities. This city loves their fake breasts and Juicy Couture, so I can see why they're getting catty about Isaac.

  7. Ok why is there always negativity here? Thank you Rachael for sharing this I'm glad he's coming to SouthPark.

  8. Why not bring a positive perspective to the story. Criticism foments negativism.

Please let go of your anger -- fill your life with love, joy and peace and see how you shift your reality.

Glad Mr. Mizrahi is gracing us with his presence!
