Kim Kardashian + me = BFFs?

I can't believe that I'm about to add Kim Kardashian to my list of body heroes. Huh?

But her honest, "So what?" response to the the fuss over untouched/retouched magazine photos is down right endearing.

Sure, the "leaked" photos could be just be a publicity stunt to raise awareness about her new workout DVDs. Regardless, it's another chance for everyone to be reminded just how much retouching/reworking goes into the notion of perfection.

What's your take?

While you're considering, watch how "beauty" comes to pass in this Dove video.

  1. Then you don't have/offer much class since she made a porn video. Right?

  2. I love that dove commercial and yes it is amazing how people look up to all the celebrities in the magazines - It's horrible.

But you MUST add a "follow" option from blogger on your page so I can follow you!!

  3. As the father of a 6-yr-old girl that is thankfully clueless to all things (or most things) related to her appearance, that scared me to death. My fear is that my kid is never going to accept that models like those on the billboard while beautiful are almost complete works of fiction. Yet that is going to be the baseline against which she compares herself.

  4. I love that Dove commercial! It makes me sick to my stomach the pressure on all women to look like supermodels. The thing is, even their photos are touched up. Why can't we just accept women the way they are and just focus on being healthy?

  5. I do believe that Kim Kardashian's photo is retouched, my brother works for a well known company that does those so-called touch-ups to people in magazines, commercials, billboards, etc. He once said to me, "you have NO idea how bad looking these celebrities really are BEFORE we touch them up". They have uneven skin tones, blemishes, pimples, etc. just like we do. Now, I am a believer. People will see you soon enough out in public without all the "touch-ups" and obviously, the TRUTH will be in the light by then.

  6. If the advertising didn't work, they wouldn't do it. We have the power to change this through what we buy and watch. Yes, it is scary...let's do something about it.

  7. To the previous comment: She makes mistakes just like you do. The difference is, your mistakes are not for the world to see. Are you saying that you have never made a mistake? Maybe you should reconsider judging others.
Whatever the leak for the photos, I think it is WONDERFUL for women and girls of all ages to see. She embraces her beauty just the way she is and I LOVE IT! Its too bad these photos get touched up.

  8. She embraces her beauty? That makes absolutely no sense considering the whole point is she is litterly HIDING her true self and FAKING beauty. Get a clue!

  9. Porn video? We're still talking about something that happened YEARS ago, get over it. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I admire Kim, she's always been very self-confident with her body and I think she looks great!
